See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

Follow That Which is Good

There is much teaching given in scripture on how we should live as Christians.  In Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonian church, written shortly after establishing the church, he gives some of this very practical advice to the new believers there.  In some of his final instructions in the letter Paul says, “See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.”  Have you ever wanted to ‘get back’ at someone because they wronged you?  If we are honest, probably all of us would have to answer ‘yes’ to that question.  But that is not what we should do.  We are to do good to them.  Galatians 6:10 says to “do good unto all men”, especially Christians.  Romans 12:17 says not to repay evil for evil.  Peter tells us to in I Peter 3:9 to return blessing for evil or insult.  And Jesus himself said in his sermon on the mount to do good to them that hate you.  It is very clearly taught in scripture that we are to “follow that which is good.”  Go out and do good today, and everyday, to your husband, children, fellow Christians, to everyone.
