And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.

Joshua 3:5

The Lord Of All The Earth Will Do Wonders Among Us

On Wednesday night, August 9, 2006, GMBC stepped into the water concerning our building program as we voted to build our new sanctuary.  My analogy is when the children of Israel moved into the Promised Land, it involved them taking a big step of faith as they crossed the swollen Jordan River.  Joshua prepared his people for this journey of faith as you can see in the following verses.  Joshua 3:5 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you. Joshua 3:13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.  Joshua instructed the people to sanctify themselves.  To ‘sanctify’ means ‘to be clean, to consecrate, to dedicate, to set apart for the Lord to use’.  As long as these people were consecrated, dedicated, and obedient to the Lord, He did wonders among them.  When they failed to stay consecrated, dedicated, and obedient, then the Lord withdrew those blessings.  We all know that we are going to need ‘the Lord of all the earth’ to bless this project, so let me challenge all of us to sanctify ourselves and watch the Lord do wonders among  us here at GMBC.
