But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Cor. 15:57

Eliminate The Tool

My dad has always been a very hard working, conscientious man. When he sees something that needs to be done, it’s hard for him not to do it. He enjoys working. In a recent telephone conversation with him while he was at a rehab facility after back surgery I said, “Now, Dad, you’re going to have to be very careful about what you do when you get well, so that you don’t hurt yourself again.” He immediately replied, “Oh, I know. I’m giving away my riding lawn mower, my push mower, my shovels…” He didn’t even want to be tempted to go out and do anything that might cause him the pain and difficulties again that he had experienced for over a year. So the best thing to do was remove the source of the temptations—the tools.

I thought, wow, we as Christians should be so quick to eliminate “tools” in our lives that make it easy for us to do things which will only cause us, and others, pain and difficulty.  Are you struggling with some sin in your life that you can’t seem to get victory over? Maybe you need to eliminate some “tool” that makes it easy for you to sin. “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Cor. 15:57
