And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

2 Corinthians 9:8

The New Year

As we start this New Year, let me encourage you to remember that God has a plan for each of our lives.  Turn and read I Peter 5:10.  God has called us “unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus.”  God’s plan for us may include some suffering and difficult days here and there.  Many folks have suffered this past year, but remember, our Lord and Master Jesus Christ surely suffered.  As I Peter 5:10 says, God may have us “to suffer a while”.  During this time, we may tempted to quit, but instead of quitting, what we need to remember and keep in the forefront of our minds, is that God is doing these things to make us perfect, which really means more mature in Christ and capable of being more effective for God.  Many of you may have had some difficult times last year, but look on the bright side, God may let you suffer a little bit to mature you, and then “after that ye have suffered a while”, God is going to “stablish” you into the place of His choosing for your life.  He will put you where you will be the most useful to Him.  After God gets you established where He wants you, then He will proceed to “strengthen” you to do what He has put you there to do.  Don’t ever think that God would put you into some work and not give you the strength and the ability to do what He has placed you there to do.   The exciting part is that after God gets through with all the preliminaries, then He will “settle” you down into a productive work for His glory.  My prayer for all of you is that God would give you a very productive year of service to our most Wonderful Lord.  If so, it will truly be a Happy New Year.
