Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!

Be Still and Know

Have you ever been at your “wit’s end”?  I think we have all been there or at least expressed a nearness of that destination!  That very expression is used in Psalm 107:27 to describe a group of storm-tossed, troubled people whose soul melts within them.  “They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at there wit’s end.”  So how will they be rescued?  The Palmist tells us in verses 29-30.  They cried to the Lord, He brought them out of their distresses; He calmed the storm and stilled the waves.  Then they were glad because they were quiet and He guided them to their desired haven.  And they gave thanks to Him!  “Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” [vs. 31]  Let God rescue you from your distresses and help you arrive not at “wit’s end”, but at your desired haven.  Be still and know that He is God and give thanks to Him for His goodness.
