Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow (imitate), considering the end of their conversation (outcome of their way of life).

Heb. 13:7

Faith You Followed

As I continue to search the scriptures for what we should be following after in our lives, I am drawn to Heb. 13:7 which says, “Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow (imitate), considering the end of their conversation (outcome of their way of life).”  This is primarily speaking of those in leadership in the church such as pastors and teachers, but certainly we can also be reminded of many others in our lives who have taught us and modeled before us the truth of the Gospel and how we should live the Christian life. We should be following their faith.

Chances are, you can think of a person or people whose “faith you followed” whether in salvation or in Christian growth. I can think of many in my life who God has used to lead me and mentor me either by words or by example. I am so thankful for these people and don’t want to ever forget how they have influenced my life. One of the best ways I can thank them is by continuing on in my faith—the faith I learned from them. I know first hand the joy of discipling someone and seeing them grow in their faith. I also know how discouraging it can be when you pour your heart into someone and they turn their back on God. Don’t you turn back. Continue on; following the faith of those who taught you, and remember them during this Thanksgiving season by letting them know how thankful you are for them.
