I grew up on a farm in Bedford County. My Dad once went 25 years without missing a Sunday in church, so you know where I was. As I reached my early teenage years, I realized I was a sinner according to the preaching of the Word of God, and this caused me to be afraid if I should die. At a revival meeting I went forward at the invitation and the preacher asked me if I believed in Jesus. I said yes. No one explained salvation to me or what it meant to be saved. I did not think I was saved so I told God I would wait a year and if I didn’t feel any different I would come to Him again. When the end of the year approached, I knew I needed to make this right with God and in my own bedroom I asked Him to be the Lord of my life. From that time on I had assurance of my salvation.
