O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

Psalm 31:23

Focus on Faithfulness in 2004

Psalm 31:23, GMBC’s theme verse for 2004 says, “O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.”  Grace Memorial Baptist Church has chosen to “Focus on Faithfulness in 2004”.  In order for us to be a faithful doer of God’s Word we must have a genuine love for Him.  Getting saved is the first step to really understanding what it means to love the Lord, but in this passage the psalmist is challenging those who are saved to love the Lord.  It is very easy for saved folks to allow sin to get a foothold in their lives and end up growing cold on the Lord.  God tells us in Matthew 24:12 “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”  It is true that iniquity is abounding, but it doesn’t have to abound in the lives of God’s people.  We must guard our heads and our hearts so that we do not drift into sin and wax cold on the Lord.  God is always good to bless those who stay near to Him.  Psalms 31:23 b says that, “the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.”  I hope you will ask God to help you genuinely love Him and faithfully serve Him in 2004.
