When I was about 12 years old, God started working on my heart concerning salvation.

Pastor Greg Rogers Testimony

I grew up in a loving, Christian home with Godly, faithful parents.  My parents and my three siblings attended Saline Baptist Church in Somerset, Ky.  As children, we never had to ask if we were going to church, because my parents believed in being faithful to the Lord through our local church.  We were there every time the doors were open and usually we were the last to leave.  When I was about 12 years old, God started working on my heart concerning salvation.  I realized that I was a sinner and that if I died without receiving Christ as my Saviour that I would go to Hell.  Because of hearing the Bible faithfully preached all of my life, I did understand that Jesus Christ was truly the virgin born son of God and that He came to earth, lived a sinless life and willingly went to the cross to pay for my sins.  For several weeks I put off the decision receive Christ as my saviour.  One Sunday night,  a visiting preacher named Bro. Herbert McPheron preached and afterwards gave the invitation.  I was under conviction but I did not go forward.  As I was leaving the church that night Bro. McPheron asked me if I was saved.  I said “No Sir.”  He then asked, “Would you like to get saved?”  I said “I sure would.”  That night we both went to the altar and I knelt and asked the Lord to save me.  What a blessed day that was to have my sins forgiven and my soul secured for heaven.  I thank God that I had parents who recognized the importance of faithful attendance to church and I am also thankful that we had a church and Pastor that faithfully preached God’s Word.  Now the Lord has given me the opportunity to serve as a pastor myself, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to do for others what was done for me.
